Dr. Jimmy Ruiz, who specializes in lung cancer, serves as the Assistant Director for Clinical Research at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center and Professor of Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr. Ruiz received his medical degree at Southern Illinois University and completed residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. His clinical research focuses on promoting clinical trial activation and participation, especially among individuals from diverse communities of color. Dr. Ruiz is past president of the North Carolina Oncology Association and an active member of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the National Hispanic Medical Association.
