We were honored to bring together Small Cell Lung Cancer Patients and their caregivers with ten renowned experts in the field of SCLC, including Melissa Abel, MD.








About the Speaker

Melissa Abel, MD, is a Clinical Research Fellow at the National Cancer Institute. She works as a junior investigator in the clinic and lab of Dr. Anish Thomas. She completed her medical training at Duke University where she participated in the Howard Hughes Medical Fellows program, studying CAR-T cell therapies for brain tumors. She attended UCLA for internal medicine residency before coming to the National Institutes of Health for her Oncology Fellowship, where she currently serves as a Chief Fellow. In addition to treating patients on lung and neuroendocrine cancer clinical trials, she researches the tumor microenvironment of SCLC and how it contributes to chemotherapy resistance.
